How does the SUP team event work?

After a short introduction to Stand Up Paddling, it is time to get out on the water and your boards. In consultation, we organize various games and exercises that test the skill of each individual as well as the cohesion among colleagues. Some teams prefer to simply discuss a specific topic in peace on the lake. You decide which program suits you best.

In the first hour you will be looked after exclusively by a VDWS-trained SUP instructor, including the introduction and teaching of basic paddling techniques.

Individual design options for your team event

Depending on your wishes, coaches can be booked for a second hour so that additional elements can be installed. – Message us!

Recommended number of required trainers: 1 per 10 participants

At the beginning we start with a detailed introduction on land

At the beginning, we like to take a  half hour for a detailed introduction. We base our content on our beginner courses, which we regularly offer.

  • How and where do I stand on the SUP board? How do I hold the paddle? How do I adjust the paddle correctly? How do I get on the board safely?
  • Where does the SUP sport originate and what is the most exciting thing about it?
  • Material science – How do the boards differ (length, width, material)?
  • The most important paddling technique for beginners such as basic stroke, pull stroke, bow stroke etc.

Then everyone gets a paddle, can choose a board and we set sail.

Then it goes together on the water

We make a small round and practice the basic strokes on the board. This usually works very well. Beginners get a more secure stance on the board over time.

Now you get the stand-up paddle feeling. You perceive the nature around you and the unusual elevated position, standing in the middle of the Schlachtensee.

Smooth transition to games and water fun

We get on with different balance exercises on the board (squat, sit, lie and get up without hands, etc.). Then follows the “rodeo” to discover your own pivot point on the board: Who can turn farthest, fastest, deepest around the axis?

Different group games follow. Now, you can immediately prove what you have learned and the team spirit emerges. For example, at the

  • SUP-letters: Which team can first put certain letters of the alphabet from boards on the water.
  • Board & places swap on the water on call – which team is faster & does not end up in the water
  • Depending on your condition and mood: A little relay race

On water and with a SUP board under your feet much more challenging than it might seem at first glance 🙂

Towards the end

We are flexible depending on your desire and time. More games? Hop off the board for a lap? Sometimes a paddler is with the board even after a bit of quiet floating around.

You decide –

Finally, we go ashore together. We are happy to do a short final round on land.

Is there a bathing area?

Yes! A public swimming area with a large lawn is located 50 meters from our station. Perfect for lying together in the sun after stand-up paddling.

What do we have to bring with us?

The clothing should be adapted to the respective weather conditions. Light sports or swimwear is sufficient in the warmer months.

Please pay attention to appropriate sun protection with sunscreen and a sun hat with an adequate brim.

We recommend wearing water shoes – the beach area, the riparian zone, the entrance and the lake are a natural surrounding. There is a risk of injury from pointed stones, branches, etc.

In the event that you should fall into the water, it is best to bring a towel and change of clothes.

Do you have life jackets?

Yes, we have life jackets for young and old.
